CAORC Announces 2017 Fellowship Recipients


CAORC Fellowships

CAORC is pleased to announce the 2017 award recipients for the Multi Country-Research Fellowship, National Endowment for the Humanities Senior Research Fellowship, and the Mellon Mediterranean Regional Research Fellowship programs. Additionally, the first ever Mary Ellen Lane Multi-Country Travel Award was granted this year.

Andrew W. Mellon Mediterranean Regional Research Fellowship Programs

The Andrew W. Mellon Mediterranean Regional Research Fellowship supports Mediterranean-focused research in the humanities and related social sciences in countries bordering the Mediterranean and served by a participating American overseas research center. In its fourth and final year, seven fellowships were awarded. A full list of the Mellon Mediterranean Regional Research Fellowship grantees can be found here.

Mary Ellen Lane Multi-Country Travel Award

In its first year, the Mary Ellen Lane Multi-Country Travel Award was granted to Professor Lori Leonard of Cornell University. This award is granted to the highest-ranking Multi-Country Research fellow and provides $1000 towards travel expenses. The award is named after CAORC’s founding director, Dr. Mary Ellen Lane. Multi-Country Research Fellowship

The Multi-Country Research Fellowship supports advanced regional or trans-regional research in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences for U.S. doctoral candidates and postdoctoral scholars. Now in its 24th cycle, seven fellowships were awarded to three postdoctoral scholars and four doctoral candidates. The program is funded by the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. A complete list of the Multi-Country Fellowship grantees can be found here.

National Endowment for the Humanities Senior Research Fellowship

The NEH Senior Research Fellowship supports advanced research in the humanities in Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Cyprus, Georgia, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Senegal, Sri Lanka or Tunisia. This is the inaugural year of the fellowship program and three fellowships were awarded. A complete list of the NEH Senior Research Fellowships grantees can be found here.
