OFDS Partner Program
Customized international seminars developed with partner institutions and consortia to support targeted faculty cohorts and program objectives.
The CAORC Partner Program develops customized international faculty development experiences in collaboration with colleges, universities, consortia, and other organizations seeking to advance global engagement. Drawing on the expertise of CAORC's network of American Overseas Research Centers in over 30 countries, each seminar is tailored to the academic goals, disciplinary interests, and professional development needs of the partner institution. Programs combine lectures by local scholars, visits to universities and cultural institutions, meetings with community organizations and practitioners, and immersive site-based learning to provide participants with rich, place-based perspectives. Whether focused on a specific discipline, regional theme, or institutional priority, CAORC Partner Programs create international learning experiences that deepen global understanding, foster professional
connections, and advance teaching, research, and institutional collaboration.
The Council of American Overseas Research Centers and its member centers offer a range of Overseas Faculty Development Seminars designed to serve different audiences and institutional needs while maintaining a consistent academic framework. These include fully funded seminars for U.S. college and university faculty and administrators, customized seminars for partner cohorts, open enrollment programs for broader participation, and the Faculty Leadership for International Training and Exchange (FLITE) program. Together, these offerings expand access to the network of American Overseas Research Centers and to international, place-based learning, while ensuring that each seminar remains focused, relevant, and aligned with participant goals.

Past Programs:
Traditions and Innovations in Agriculture and Forestry in India was a two-week Overseas Faculty Development Seminar (OFDS) organized by the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) in partnership with the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) for faculty from member institutions of the Center of Excellence for Land, Water, and Resource Management (COE) at Tennessee State University. The seminar strengthened international research networks by connecting participants with leading Indian universities, research institutes, and non-governmental organizations working in sustainable agriculture, forestry, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, environmental monitoring, technology innovation, and community development.
Through these engagements, participants explored innovative approaches to natural resource management while building professional relationships that support collaborative research, faculty and student exchanges, joint grant proposals, and expanded institutional partnerships between U.S. and Indian organizations.
The seminar included visits to the following institutions and sites:
Institutional Visits: The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Delhi Technological University (DTU), Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Jabarkhet Nature Reserve, Hanifl Centre for Outdoor Education and Environmental Study, M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS), Delhi School of Climate Change and Sustainability, and the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.
Cultural Visits: Qutb Minar, Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Taj Mahal, Connaught Place, Vivekananda House, Marina Beach, Humayun's Tomb, Sunken Museum, Gandhi Smriti, and the National Museum (Delhi).
