    Congratulations to the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) and their Temple of the Winged Lions (TWLCRM) project for being awarded a second grant from the Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation!     ACOR Director Participates in Special Visit to Umm al Jimal by U.S. Ambassador to Jordan

    At the invitation of the U.S. Embassy, American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) Director Barbara Porter participated on 9 June 2015 in the closing ceremony for the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) grant for a project at Umm al Jimal in northern Jordan, just south of the Syrian border. The site encompasses a prosperous Byzantine town with many 5th and 6th century houses and churches built out of the local black basalt. The AFCP-funded project focused
