On January 26, Professor
Grzegorz W. Kolodko gave a talk at the West African Research
Center (WARC) on "Post Communist Transition and the European
Union Enlargement.” Professor Kolodko, who was in Dakar
to attend the conference of the Global Development Network
(GDN), an international organization headquartered in Washington,
D.C., is the former Vice-Prime Minister of Poland in charge
of Finance and the Director of the Transformation, Integration
and Globalization Economic Research (TIGER) and the Leon Kozminski
Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management (WSPIZ) in Poland.
Kolodko’s lecture focused on state integration, economic
development and post-communism and is of particular importance
in light of efforts presently being made for the consolidation
of the African Union through entities such as the New Partnership
for Africa’s Development (NEPAD). This talk, like others
at WARC, was open to the public and stimulates necessary thought
and dialogue amongst the audience members. |
