Awad
Halabi’s research in Jerusalem funded by PARC has earned
him the Malcolm H. Kerr Dissertation Award for the Humanities
for 2007 from the Middle East Studies Association. Awad Halabi
is an Assistant Professor at Wright State University. Halabi
studies
and teaches Middle Eastern and Islamic History
and Religion. His thesis titled "The transformation of the
Prophet Moses Festival in Jerusalem, 1917-1937: from local and
Islamic to modern and nationalist celebration" was completed
at the University of Toronto at the Department of Near and Middle
East Civilizations. PARC funded Halabi’s travel to Jerusalem
where he completed the research necessary for his thesis, which
is currently in the process of being publishing. |
