American Institute of Sri Lankan Studies Sponsors Panel on Human Rights

The American Institute of Sri Lankan Studies (AISLS) sponsored a panel entitled Human Rights and Governance in Sri Lanka on April 2, 2005 in conjunction with the Association for Asian Studies’ (AAS) annual conference. James McDonald of Amnesty International USA and Neil DeVotta, Professor of Political Science at Hartwick College, discussed the current political climate in Sri Lanka and obstacles that must be overcome.

Professor Jeanne Marecek, President of AISLS, also participated in the conference’s Presidential Roundtable, entitled Responding to the Tsunami.
