TALM Hosts Inter-Faith Study Tour

TALM hosted an inter-faith study group from the College of Notre Dame (CND). The delegation was led by CND professor Sister Eileen Eppig and Imam Mohamed Bashar Arafat, CND adjunct professor and President of the Civilization Exchange and Cooperation Foundation. (Imam Arafat served as Imam in Damascus, Syria from 1981 to 1989 before coming to the U.S. where he is the president of the Islamic Affairs Council of Maryland) The objectives of the two week tour of Morocco were to develop a deeper understanding of Islam and the Muslim world and the contributions of Islamic civilization to the West throughout history.

In January 2007, Sister Eileen Eppig participated in the “Teaching about Islam and Middle Eastern Culture” seminar hosted by the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) in Amman, Jordan. The three-week seminar was sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC), with support from the U.S. Department of State.
