On June 3, 2006, The Tangier American Legation Museum (TALM) hosted a royal visit by the King of Sweden, King Carl XVI Gustaf and his wife Queen Silva. The King and Queen were honored guests at a private dinner at TALM offered by retired Swedish diplomat J. Christer Elfverson. Elfverson was born and brought up in the International Zone of Tangier and held a number of posts at the United Nations including chef de cabinet at the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Western Sahara (MINURSO). Among the other guests were the grand duke and duchess of Luxembourg.
