From March 3 - April 2, AIIrS sponsored the hosting of the exhibition “Wishes and Dreams: Iran’s New Generation Emerges” at the New York Academy of Art, where AIIrS Executive Director Erica Ehrenberg serves as Provost. The exhibition, conceived and originated by the Meridian International Center in Washington, had been on view in Washington since May 2007, at which time Ehrenberg assisted State Department’s International Visitors Office with the visit of the artists to New York. Planning for the exhibition included arrangements for shipping of the works from Washington, un-crating and condition reporting of the works, curating and hanging the exhibit; creating mailing lists and designing, printing and mailing invitations and posters; preparing ads for newspapers and a press release; preparing and hosting a special preview reception and a regular opening; and arranging for security for events and the exhibition, during its daily viewing hours. In addition, a panel discussion was held at the New York Academy of Art on March 25, introduced by Ehrenberg, moderated by Dr. Shiva Balaghi, AIIrS’ institutional trustee for NYU who is an expert on contemporary Iranian visual culture, and featuring three young Iranian-American artists
