The W. F. Albright
Institute of Archaeological Research (AIAR) in Jerusalem is
pleased to announce the award of a $2,000,000 NEH Challenge
Grant. One million dollars is earmarked for the Albright’s
Silver Jubilee Campaign to endow the Seymour Gitin Senior Research
Professorship in honor of the Albright’s long-term Director;
and the second million dollars is for the renovation and endowment
of what is to be called the Joy Gottesman Ungerleider Hostel,
named after the late long-term Trustee and Chair of the Albright
Board. NEH will provide one dollar for every four dollars the
Albright raises up to a total award of $400,000. More than
a third of the amount needed for the Senior Research Professorship
and the entire match for the Joy Gottesman Ungerleider Hostel
have been pledged. The grant period extends until July 31,
2010. |
