W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research to Host a Working Group on Socio-Religious Movements of the Middle East
On Tuesday, 26th October, the W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research (AIAR) will host the "SSRC Collaborative Faculty Research Group," composed of a group of Israeli, Palestinian, European and American researchers. The group will discuss socio-religious movements in Israeli and Palestinian societies focusing on the project, "Socio-Religious Movements and Transformation of Political Community: Israel, Palestine and Beyond."

This is a multi-year project that will result in at least one edited volume. The meeting at AIAR is the third in a series that began at the European University Institute in October 2001, and continued at UC Irvine, California in November 2002.

The organizer of the project is Mark Levine, a Professor of Middle Eastern History at UC Irvine and a former Albright SSRC Fellow in 1996-97.
