During
February 2005, the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR)
in Amman directed a Workshop on Field Archaeology for
six Jordanian archaeologists. Instructors Dr. Patricia Bikai,
Associate Director of ACOR, Dr. Megan Perry, Assistant Professor
at East Carolina University and current ACOR Senior Fellow*,
and Chrysanthos Kanellopolos, Architect, gave classes on pottery
drawing, bioarchaeology and architectural documentation. This
workshop promoted academic exchange between Americans and Jordanians
by introducing American archaeological methodology to Jordanian
archaeologists. Exchanges, such as this workshop, foster cultural
understanding and promote professional collaboration between
Americans and Jordanians. |
